Big Guns and Night Vision

Posted by Oreo47 - July 17th, 2008

Heyhey, I just spent the last week or so fixing a REALLY annoying little bug that would only let each squad attach one vehicle... there are still a few kinks to work out in that area, but its coming together. I'm also going to be re-sampling all the vehicles. It's going to take a few days, but it will let the game run better on older computers.

Anywho, with the bug outta the way, i spent some time seeing how much firepower i could fit into a squad. I have also been working on the night-vision filter... making it look cool without slowing down the frame rate is a VERY delicate process...

oh, and i'm aware that there is grass on the road in the screenshot. That problemo has been fixed.

Nice.

Awsome

I love you.

hey the night vision look so cool!!!!

Looks Awesome love your work

Looks awesome but i have a few questions
Can you fit 3 tanks into one group?
Are the head lights just for show or is it help increase accuracy?

Yep, 3 vehicles per squad, and the headlights are just for show... although you can get a spotlight on vehicles and buildings to detect infiltrators. That bit won't be till AW2, though.

About the Vehicle behind the hummer in the night vision pic would it be by any chamce a LAV 3

Yep, the LAV 3 is one of the most versitile chassis in the game; it can be used for anything from mortars to field hospital.

It would be cool if headlight did increase accuracy. Also, how big can a squad get? Keep up the good work!

Squads can contain up to 30 characters, although only 5 'hero' characters can be attached to each squad (25 foot soldiers + 5 hero).

Didn't oreo47 say that there was only 5 man squads for military

You can only give tactical orders to 5 key members in your squad, the rest of the troops in the squad are just rank and file. Military personnel are among the best trained in the game, so you will want to make up a bunch of small squads of 5. This is ideal for tactical gameplay.
The military can conscript civilians and attach them to squads, and any rear rank solders in that squad will be covered by them. This might be neccecery if, say, you needed to take out a tank, but have no fire support or cover, so you get 5 RPG solders, attach 25 conscripts, and have the RPG's in the rear rank. That way you can attack the tank directly without having to worry about losing any RPGs, although the town that the conscripts are from are not going to like you using their people for fodder... Pretty much every death in the game affects your standing with one faction or another.

yey you know when its cooming out

TBA! WOOO!

why are there 3 mans in the screendshot with two vedical.

what?

Q:How many fractions are there? (sub-fractions to.) Q:How big is the map?
Q:What is the recommended computer requirements for AW2?
Keep up the good work!

1) In the first campaign, there will be military, nextgen (super special solders; not like retard special, though), and zombies.
2) 2 Ghz to run it on high, 1.3 Ghz to run it on low.

My comp is only 1.5 ghz, so you can imagine how slow going making this game can be... I have tested it on my friends computer, which is about 2 ghz, and it ran smooth on higher detail. Although, the battles will be with no anti-aliasing (when you click 'low' in the quality thing when you right click), which sucks, but graphics always come at a price :(

Qestion :how do the map look like in anyother mision
sencod would would there be fps?

Umm, I'll upload a pic of a mission map next
If by FPS you mean first person shooter, then no. If you mean frames per second, then there are 14.

WOW!!!!!This is AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

I think is AWESOME,not AWSOME

Q:Can you befriend the zombie fraction? Q:Can 2 fractions join together? (ex: church-army?)Q:Is Chuck Norris in the game? (LOL!)

I can't answer the first one without spoiler... Factions CAN work together, although getting the army and rebels to play nice won't be easy.

Seeing as how you can only fit 3 super-heavy-battle tanks into a squad, it would be pretty much impossible to take out a chuck norris...

I love it but it's confusing I mean there's grass on the road witch makes the zombies look far a way. By the way what are the vehicles in the game. And what about the knights

There are a few vehicles:

Truck
Humvee
Bison/bradley
Lav 3
Light tank
Medium tank
Heavy tank

These are the basic chassis in the game, and you can customize them however you need. You can only fit certain weapons and stuff on certain chassis, mind you.

The knights are going in, but the humans wont have any magic or anything... he will just be good at melee/morale.

Wait... what do you mean AW2 i though this was AW 2... ?
For my lap top it plays autumn war on high detail / Fog and stuff very smoothly

There will be 5 'campaigns' released before AW2, each one introduces a new faction. In the first campaign, it will be military vs zombies vs nextgen soldiers. The second will throw raiders or chuch into it, and so on.

hey, umm so what do u think about the quisling idea? its in a my comment on ur last post, mabe for the real game or the later campaigns...

keep playing it
