MERRY BOXING DAY EVERYONE!

I have been away from NG for awhile, but i have been adding TONS of shit to AW, despite my harddrive dying. It still sorta works, but I have to reinstall the OS once or twice a week now (blue screen of death). Plus I lost all my music and movies to a registry glitch :D

Anywho, here is some of the things that have gone in:

MP5 (optional silencer)
Enforcer rifle (50. cal carbine, optional chainsaw bayonet/sniper module)
Sniper rifle (optional silencer)
M60 (can lay suppressive fire)
Weapon customization for most weapons (scope, silencer, extended barrel, bayonet, etc.)
Rail gun (man portable)
Time of day (morning, noon, evening, night)
Weather effects
Nextgen elite wear red capes
Enhanced camera
Down animations (characters will draw pistol in last stand, drag wounded, etc)
Vehicle animations (tanks will recoil with shots, jeeps will blast into pieces, etc)
Particle effects (very sexy explosions)
Stealth kills

I could go on. But I got xmas stuff to do for the next week or so. Im getting a new hard drive for xmas, and maybe some ram, finally; so i'll be doing a trailer once I get the melee looking smooth.

I may or may not read all the responses to my last post, so if you have something to say, say it to MY FACE (aka this post).

And remember, good things come to those who wait... when i push back the release date, it's to make sure AW2 will be every bit as good as I have promised.

The bayonet gives a melee bonus, but also gives an accuracy penalty. The MP5 is still better for melee, though.

I had the same thoughts when putting together the outfits, but having rolled up sleeves makes it a bit easier to see what the inf are doing.

So I was asking last post, specifcs and all.
Is ammo counted by actual ammount of fire, or by number of battles/kills/etc.
If that means it is possible to run out of ammo, does your unit fall back, or do they draw a pistol? Does pistol have unlimited ammo. (a la L4D)
Can you share ammo?
And does pistol have it own slot, or can you replace it with a machine pistol or shotgun? I think it'd be epic for the squad to run out of ammo, everyone goes sidearms while slowly falling back.

Have you considered specialty rounds? As in, lets say ypu have a 25mm signal pistol, that can fire flares, messages or grenades, or a 40mm launcher that can fire grenades, flares, flechette, etc.

Can you order your men to direct their fire? As in, you have riflemen and support gunners whale on the zombies, while the grenadiers and snipers try to get the witch.

And do human commanders use regular weapons? Or stuff like officers pistols,DMRs, etc.

Thats all for now, chances of getting a reply are slim anyway, so I don't want to overload you with questions.

Im still trying to figure out the ammo; long range engagments mean the mp5 and stuff only have like a %1 chance to hit...

Some units get pistol for free (officers and vehicle crews), others can equip it as side arm.

Im considering special rounds, but only for tanks and all that (TOW missiles), as well as artillery.

DMs (designated marksmen) can target particular units. You need to equip them with a scope, though.

You can equip most units with most weapons. Helicopter crews and stuff start with a pistol, but you can upgrade them with an MP5. Riflemen can use any weapon.

There will be army of two style stuff, but that's mostly inspired by the ending sequence of COD4.
If a shell goes off near a unit, they will flinch, but a hit by a shell is an instant down.
There will be a couple unique weapons, but you're going to have to play the game to see em.

The mp7 would be way too effective in this game. The only weakness of the mp5, aside from its range, is its lack of armor penetration. MP7 goes right through body armor...

1) if i can get the lighting effects to work, flares are going in, otherwise, NVG will have to do.
2) I haven't played any COD:WAW yet, but I sooo intend to.
3) Choppers, ac-130, stealth bombers are in for sure. im still figuring out what plane will be used for the strafing. A fighter-bomber of some sort.
4) EAT CHAINSWORD!!1... Sabers are going in, but chainswords im not sure about.
5) Squads recover troops when not in battle. Having a medic speeds up the process.
6) If the shotty is going in, it's going to be pump-action.
7) psykers... it's part of the story, so you're going to have to wait and see.
8) yep.
9) Zombies will have that ability, and a few others for ambushing.

Lets not forget how modifiable that weapon is, you can but scopes, silencers, large clips, and laser sightings on that thing... It's a perfect (And expensive/hard reward) hero secondary arm.

I got an idea, isn't it a perfect reward from that blackops faction?

Hmm... the nextgen are long range specialists; the chainsaw bayonet is mostly to deal with ambushes, not for assaults. If i need another cqc weapon (still need to do up shotgun), then i might put it in.

Will the troops have aiming animations, instead of firing from the hip?
Will this game be able to run on lower level computers?

Weapons that have a hipfire animation will also have an aiming animation. I had to put that in when i added scopes...

You can run the game on slower comps... although you have to disable alot of graphical goodness.

Zombies will have special units, but aside from xeno, i cant get more into it without spoiler. You will encounter one xeno during the first campaign.

I wanted to add two man teams (like loader/gunner), but it seems to be too complicated programming wise at this point...

A tenth of the terrain can be foggy so we don't know what to expect. Rain lowers max visiblity, which is good for infiltrators and snipers. I might also have it reduce the speed of wheeled vehicles over certain terrain types, but im not sure yet. The leaves have been in for some time now, and look freakin beautiful.

The osprey is cool, but the animation engine doesent really support that kind of structure. The nextgens air support vehicle is more like a helicopter that works like a harrier.
The A-10 warthog tank killer airplane thingie is still in active service for the sole purpose of strafing runs. The game doesn't really need strafing planes, but it won't be hard to put in, and i can make it look good.

Flares might be a cool artillery round. They brighten up any targets hidden by the fog of war, and blind any NVG wearing troops. I think animations would be pretty simple too; the artillery crew just loads a slightly different round, and instead of exploding, it makes a bright streak and whites out the screen.

Smoke rounds as well maybe? Launched by vehicles or rifle grenades, they'd obscure an area and screw accuracy for both sides. A smokescreen looks really epic in a large battle as well.

By MP5, do you mean the actual MP5, think SAS, or the MP5K PDW in the top right picture?

Osprey would be an interesting craft, but it'd be a bit of trouble. It only carries infantry and a two 20 cannons. Out of curiosity, why would the animation be any harder then a harrier?

I know I've asked you before, but have you considered doing a AW homebrew DS game? There is a huge community for it.

The air support (for strafing) will be more of a set piece; you call it, and the pilot will give you an ETA, so you will want to spot the enemy, call in the air, and open fire when it finishes the run. The vulcan gattling gun that it has works for this.

The trouble with flares is the lighting effects for it. Otherwise it just allows the affected units to be targeted as though it were day.

Smoke I want to put in, but putting it in without slowdown would be really tough.

The MP5 in the game is an MP5K, but most people dont know the diff... im probably going to have both weapons in by the end of it, though (mp5k for crews and stuff, mp5 SD for infiltrators, MP5 for CQC, etc.

The graphics engine makes it tough to work with wide structures unless they are in the background, so helicopters, with their thin profile, are easy to put in. Mechs, osprey, and even houses have to be as far back as possible to keep the 3D effect, and the camera will be zooming in to the pilot as he talks, and the chalk as they unload, so osprey wont work. As cool as it would be...

I don't have a DS, and i have only heard a little about this homebrew stuff, but AW2 requires about 2ghz to run smooth in high detail, and i don't think the DS has that much muscle. Then again the resolution would be much lower...

now for some more suggestions(sorry =\)
1. maybe an extra command for battle(an add in to the retreat back hold advance charge thing) maybe kamikaze, all the troops sprint towards the enemy yelling "BONZAI!!!" (lol joking) they wouldn't fire but their melee would be increased incredibly and they would run towards the enemy faster than the charge.
2. perhaps something for the church that is similar to the red thirst the blood angels have in warhammer 40k. an ability only the most elite troops are able to use, able to take in five times the amount of bullets from before, the melee fighting would go 1 soldier>9 zombies. and aside from the fact that they need to be incredibly experienced, you immediatly lose control of them, making them attack everything that's near them after they've killed their original target, which will include your troops, making the strategy something rare to use, using it only if you have an expendable elite squad, and you're sure that none of them would survive afterwards.
3. would enough machine gun fire on a tree finally pierce through? hitting the soldier behind it unless he changes cover by advancing or retreating before it happens?

1. units don't get any attack bonus for being in cover.
2. recon units, which move a bit faster, cannot equip heavy weapons
3. Nextgens do have superior weaponry

I'll have to see what type of raw computing the DS has. Even if you knocked down graphics and stuff, the game would so much potential with the dual and touch screen interface. I think average game size is between 32-128 megs.

It still retains the pump aspect, but I think the (comparitively) futuristic look and large capacity would make it perfect for the somewhat futuristic setting of AW
Its bullpup and pump forward-back rather then back-forward.

You said you needed another CQB weapon, would that do, or do you need something automatic as well?

I think some kind of machine pistol would work for room clearing style CQC and stuff. Skorpion, uzi series (full, mini, micro), TMP/MP9 (MP9 looks cooler and has a shoulder stock though), Beretta 93r, Glock 18C, Cz75 auto, stechkin, VP70 etc.

What makes the two man crews complicated?
Making the animations mesh during movement and damage?

Yea, the game would work better on the DS then the ps3/360. Plus multiplayer and junk.

When a chopper goes down, you will have survivors, usually, and getting them to safety is important for keeping air support available in later missions.

The old weapons are in, but most have a few extra animations.

The mp5 will be good at close range / CQC, where as the shotty is pretty much CQC only. For room clearing, you always want to have your pointman with a shotgun. MP5/pistol are good too, and rifles are so-so.
You could also just attack the building with RPG/machinegun/artillery/tank/wha tever.

there are SAMs, but no AA

im going to be putting in LAW, and SA-7 in addition to RPG. LAW is so recon can have anti armor ability, but is single shot.

the air units are going in. at least 3 kinds of chopper, although planes you don't directly control, but rather get support from.

It's a next gen with a rail gun. The railgun can fire charged shots (anti armor), burst shot (heavy machine gun), and plasma (flamethrower). It will automatically switch between depending on target and range.

could you rephrase the last question?

to answer one of joe's questions to save oreo time, the first picture when you asked about the rail gun, well i believe oreo said that rail guns were only going on vehicles, and also, those are next gens, you can tell by the red capes on their backs, church are going to have 30 people per squad and usually have melee weapons but you have the choice of giving them a new weapon

I use a progam called swfXXL i think. Makes it run full screen without any extra slowdown. I don't really understand what a direct X is, but i like it.

Even for the nextgens, railguns are VERY rare, rarely more than one/squad. They are a good anti-everything weapon, but the M60 is a bit better for suppressing, a cluster of RPGs better at (close) anti armor, but plasma is one of the stronger melee attacks, capable of immolating multiple units.
The railgun can take out low-flying helicopters, but is only so-so vs heavy tanks. LAVs and such are one hit kills, however.

There are the 5 basic ones from AW1, but you can also command supressing fire, along with a few others. I want the game to play it's self as much as possible, so you can sit back and watch your plans unfold, so things like grenades will automatically be used when necessary, and your characters will switch weapons when appropriate.

Just think of them as HUGE artillery pieces on railroads.

I believe the weapon oreo47 means in a sci-fi rail gun. Basically, they use a magnetic accelerator to fire a projectile (usually contained plasma or some kind of heavy metal) at super high velocities. They have been made, but so far they are less efficient then firearms.

Yea, i thought of a way to make the buildings exploding to look good. An RPG will usually only blast a big hole in the house, killing 2-3 inf. A 100mm shell will usually reduce the house to rubble. The particle effects will let me have splinters of wood flying off, smoldering debris, smoke and dust, etc.

Urban environments give infantry the option to disengage and retreat at any time, so you can't rely on tanks and stuff for actually capturing a city. Infantry are the only ones capable of locking down and clearing structures.

average tac shotgun. most of the weapons for the military are common military-esque grade. I might make a shotgun module for the 50. cal carbine, but it has the chainsaw, and i imagine most players will prefer that to anything else.

Meh, don't bother with the DS specs; i can look em up in like 2 secs. Thanks, anyways, though.

1)yes, but im not sure if they will make it in to the first campaign.
2)a certain hero unit does, but regular troops do not.

4)the smaller a squad is, the better it is at sneaking. Special forces will often move in squads of 1-3. Fire teams will want squads of 3-5.

6)there will be a few towns, a couple cities, and a bunch of villages and military bases. Going speed wise, you can get through the campaign in about 10 battles, but for the good ending, it will probably take over 50.
7)The witch is kinda like a vampire, xeno kinda like devil.

Depending on the situation, almost any faction will ally with any faction. Each town will also have a presence of all factions; even military controlled towns will still have a few raiders (mafia?), moving illegal goods that the player may need, and raider controlled towns will have military (double) agents, that may want the player to gather info and evidence.
If you play the game right, you can even do missions for the witch, but if discovered, you will be branded as an enemy of humanity. That's bad, but you can still complete the game.

Yep. Cleanup in that kind of situation is a bitch too. ESPECIALLY room clearing.
We ran a airsoft game a while ago with opposing human factions and zombies, it was fun stuff. When you get to the "bombed out" scenery (not literally bombed, a part of the field was designed to look destroyed) though, its just damn creepy. The people playing zombies inevitably set up ambushes in the rubble, and the flashlights swinging everywhere (we don't allow NVGs) cast some eerie shadows. You start thinking that somebody is behind every single piece of rubble and such, and you don't even have enough ammo to really check.
No 40mms or squad autos with us at the time too, all we could really do was haul ass to the "extraction" point.

The other day, we had a mout game. I played in alot of room clearing stuff. Ironically, a handgun proved to be supperior to both rifles and shotgun.
Of course, machine pistols still reigned >_<

In terms of video games and real life though, I guess a handgun's easy handling would not negate the fact that they don't do crap to body armor.
Shotguns rule in that case :D

I have an idea for the m16 to make the attachment thing work; shotty, and 40mm grenades should be in. Just a matter of animating it properly...

None of my friends are into airsoft... and I can't afford the paintball kit that i want (close to $1000). Still, exercises like that are sooo fun.

The pistol will be quite effective in this game, and is quieter than the mp5-SD, when suppressed.

Basically;
factions are assigned goals and weapons
A couple factions:
-military
well armed, but difficult goals, also spread out and few in number
-police
fairly well armed, but they start out barricaded and cut off from their weapons (a la RE2)
-civilians
they get pistols and manually operated weapons. their only goal is to escape the city alive
-PMC
basically the psychopaths from Dead Rising or The Raiders in AW2, but with financial backing. they're similar in the aspect that they are basically allowed to do anything.

The event is held for an entire day, and zombies switch with humans half way through.

Basically, the zombies job is to just kill enough of the humans to keep them from getting the stuff done. They have unlimited respawn and can be either "rager" or "shambler" type zombies.

Me and some friends did something like that (elastic-band guns) way-back. Players would start as human, except for one zombie, and you would get infected by being tagged. Zombies got knocked down for a few seconds when hit. It was really fun because every round only lasted a few minuets, and always ended in a last stand.

Playgrounds are the best for it, because standing at the top offers a great vantage point, and zombies can climb up from any angle, not to mention a ton of cover... gets really frantic, really fast.

Depends on your play-style. Each faction accommodates all. Military has the most options, but is spread REALLY thin.
Church is good, because you can work in small witch-hunter teams until a town is under siege.
Raiders are good, because you are only really worried about lining your pocket, and can usually abandon objectives without consequence, other then not getting paid, and loss of confidence from your employer.
Working for a town offers the most rapid career advancement, but often leaves you under paid and under equipped.
Working for the undead offers powers that cannot be gained any other way, but it's a lonely, dangerous path...
So, in the end, the player kinda makes their own faction, by combining the other factions.

Im still working on that; i don't want to do the traditional thing, where you go level grinding, so instead i might rely solely on perks. Being in battle for long enough earns the 'hardened' perk, which allows the unit to engage the enemy, even when pinned. Using automatic weapons long enough earns the 'blocker' perk, which doubles the units suppression rating. Using the pistol long enough earns the quick-draw perk, which increases the units ability in melee/stealth kills. etc.

I would be military: big guns, and big objectives.

Zombies are not initially playable, but later they will be.

Witches are intelligent, although only one can speak, and they command the zombies.

A xeno is a zombie that has eaten animal flesh, so is half beast, half human. They count as elites for the zombies. Witches can be killed, depending on how strong they are, by any faction. The witchhunter is a solo wandering unit, who will join or fight you depending on your actions, and they can kill any but the strongest witches.

6.Only the church has anti witch troopers

Can be either. It's safer to command from afar, but your CO gains perks faster than other units, so you will probably want em on board for more critical missions.

I have decided to not allow vehicles to move through forests, some maps do not allow vehicle deployment. Well, helicopters and artillery would still work... And you COULD deploy humvees with the cargo helicopter. But yea, vehicles are only useful in open areas, and some towns are completely surrounded by forest.

You can also hire mercs for cheap and use them as diversion/fodder.

Vehicles can go through forests if there is a road or path, but otherwise doing things like ambushing convoys or capturing roads/checkpoints would be pointless. IRL, even tanks cant get though thick forest. It's what infantry are for.

Mercs can acquire weapons of any faction, in addition, they get battle rifles, which are dirt cheap, and pack alot of punch, but are slow, and inaccurate.

I roadie run all the time in paint ball; it's not that hard if you practice and exercise the right muscles for it. Squats and lunges with 50 lb weights get you in shape for it quick. And you can fire to the side while R-running, which is good, as a perpendicularly moving target is hard enough to hit, never mind the reduced profile.

No motorbikes. I want to add them, but doing the turn-around animation would be too tough. Plus fallingback/ retreating wont work. In a later chapter, i may add a top-down camera, which would allow motorcycles.

Yea, although you can reload.

Cities: up to date, civilized people, have good technology and you can buy the best weapons from there aside from top military bases

towns: not the best technology but is still civilized so you'll have less of a chance of people trying to kill your troops. hard to get good technology and weapons let alone next gen weaponry. prices are lower on everything than in cities. possibly WW2 weapons?

villages: these are uncivilized brutes a lot of times, people who possibly use WW2 weapons but most of their weaponry is below that, including swords. they would either worship you or try and chase you out, depending on how strong your force is compared to their population, weapons there are incredibly crappy unless you're the church and need a lot of melee weapons. the weapons may be crappy melee weapons with some muskets but the price is incredibly low, it'd be good to go to if you're surrounded by zombies and are almost out of ammo, the citizens will help you fight if you're being attacked by zombies because they know you're human and the zombies are blood thirsty demons with a supernatural witch leading them. they are also more religious and will most likely try and kill your troops if they're not too religious, and will try to join you if your troops are religious, making the church faction love the villages, being able to run through the village and easily recruit a large percent of the population and arm their own troops with melee weapons for very cheap, where as if the military or raider factions who are just here to keep themselves alive would most likely be chased out or attacked, if the population doesn't attack you there's a good chance some villagers might try to assassinate some of your troops(give them white outfits with red sashes, lol assassin's creed)

It's going to work something like that, but the main constraint is the amount of ammo; military weapons require military ammo, which usually can only be found in military bases, which are one of the primary targets for raiders. Hunting rifles and such have ammo that can be found pretty much anywhere, and are almost as good for taking out zombies.

When an area is completely out of ammo, even solders will have to resort to bow and arrow.

The nextgens get an orbital bombardment system, which is just a giant railgun. It has the option to make surgical strikes in clear weather, and can take out buildings and entire squads. During rain, the satellite can only bombard enemy areas, which is less effective, but greatly reduces the moral of those targeted.

The full version will be playable for free. The full screen version would require a donation, because it wouldn't run in-browser.

You will have helicopters that can move infantry, and possibly airborne.

There are sort of kamikaze zombies... you will have to play and see...

The church doesn't have any magic; it's anti-magic if anything. The witch hunter may be super human, but no spells or anything.

5) some kinds of artillery can direct fire, which terrorizes infantry, and shatters tanks.
6) no walls, but you can set up sandbags, bunkers, watchtowers, and take cover in houses.
7) Each populated town will have a garrison, but they are mostly just fodder.

4) yep, it's their version of artillery, and it works pretty much the same, although it is very inaccurate when it's raining.
5) the full chapter will be on NG.
6) When I no longer see anything wrong with it (I am VERY picky about that sort of thing).
7) The witch does have the power to call in meteor shower (like artillery bombardment), and lightning strikes on vehicles. Only elder witches have this power, though, and makes it easy for the witchhunter to find them.

Also, in addition to a full screen app, what about a standard flash file, browser based, standard size as a download? I mean, I don't really care about the fullscreen, but I just want a way to keep progress independently of my history/cookies and not be reliant on my internet for performance.

My friend was asking, can factions capture set piece actions and vehicles?
As in, could raiders steal helicopters or something, or next gens use capture artillery and such.

beta testers... nah, maybe in the last week or something, but right now Im working through a pretty long bug list.

I could do the regular size download for free, i suppose...
Some things like machine gun nests can, but artillery has it's own crew, and requires special training to use.

All factions have their own air unit, their own artillery unit, and their own version of tanks/armor and infantry. Raiders and church use alot of the same weapons, same as nextgens and military.

Depends on how close you are; typically artillery will be firing from over 10 km away, so unless you have commandos on site, or your own artillery for a counter strike, or air superiority, then you will have to take cover and wait for their ammo to run out.

3. no, it's just an abrams with a rail gun instead of it's main gun.

5. They can take guns (it's the only way to get railguns), but no zombie arms yet.

Arc troopers, I believe are "Advanced Recon Commandos". Pretty much shock troops. Basically, he's asking if the nextgens have some specialized uber-soldiers.

Nextgen infantry rely more on orbital artillery, and their 'helicopters' move faster than most planes, so they only use tanks for defensive operations, which they rarely do. Their infantry are few, but can be highly specialized.

ground artillery can bombard any target called in, regardless of weather, although ground spotters can't see as far in rain/fog, which forces your recon units to get very close to enemy.

Laptop; im going for > 2ghz, dual core, 4 gig ram. That will let me do up a smooth high res trailer, as an appetizer.

If your infantry are near, then they the artillery will fire 'danger close', which lowers the rate of bombardment, but makes sure your own men don't get hit. Precision strikes are unaffected, though.

Xenos and witches do that for the zombs. Witches make the zombies behave with some strategy; keeping ranks and setting large scale attacks. Without witches zombies are purely instinctual, and will wander right in to the open. Witches also have their own 'personality', so a rage witch will have their zombies sprint and claw, where as a terror witch will have the zombies bury one another in a cemetery, and rise them when people move through.

Xenos... if a xeno consumes witch flesh, then it gains influence over the zombies in the area, which changes their primary prey from humans to whatever animal the xeno is. The zombies will all become lesser xeno of the greater xeno, which will be way more difficult to handle.

It's ingame, but not very 'graphic'

Xenos go after witches; feeding on them allows them to influence the zombies, as mentioned above. Witches can indoctrinate xeno, but it's very risky for the witch.

Xeno and witch aren't really on the same side, but they both hunt humans, and complement one another tactically. zombies use up the enemies ammo, when properly used by the witch, and xeno hunt the forests, where troops will go to hide from zombies.

3) Sure.

The next gens will be getting something like power armor in later chapters, which would allow that.

1) Witches can control anything, Xeno can't 'control' anything, but act more like an alpha when no witch is present.
2) Witches and xeno are their own masters.

8) The artillery can, depending on the type, direct fire. If the enemy gets really close, then the artillery crew can use their own weapons.

16) The nextgen artillery is the best, story wise, as it can take out buildings with %100 accuracy, and destroy ICBMs in flight. A fully equipped army artillery battery can destroy an entire town in a few hours, though, so there is no 'ultimate' weapon.

Orbital artillery takes awhile to recharge between attacks, so it's definably more of a fire support platform than a WMD. The nextgens use it to take out tanks and fortifications before their infantry move in for the kill.

Ground artillery delivers way more firepower, although it's way less accurate. It can usually take out buildings and stationary vehicles when there is a spotter, but the armies main way of dealing with those are it's own battle tanks and air support.

I played a bit of RE5 the other day. I still like RE4 more, though. Spain is just a lot spookier i think. That, and HUNK. And Wesker... but i know Weskers' in RE5...

Have you finalized how you're going to count actual ammo and such?
How are rations and such tracked an implemented?
Since you said units are going to mostly go off perks I was wondering about when they get killed. When your squad regens, do you get entirely new units, or the same units you had with all their skills and specialties, minus supplies and such?
If your infantry is cross trained, can you use captured artillery and air units?
(would driving be a specialty?) It'd be fucking epic to go on a covert mission and use enemy hardware on their own men.

Im still working on the ammo, but i think it's going to allow solders to share ammo; so if you have a machine gunner in your squad, you can have each solder carry a belt of ammo for it.

Rations are like fuel for infantry. Marching for a day uses 1 day of food. Staying still uses 1/4th, and marching double time uses 3X. You can resupply infantry with helicopter, so knowing where enemy SAM sites are is essential.

After a battle, if you control the field, any downed solders can be healed. If the enemy controls the field then they will ether be executed or captured, at which point you can pay ransom or break them out.

You're men can use captured equipment, but only if they know how to use it. You would need to sneak a tank crew in to pilot a tank, or train your commandos how to do it.

2)In the first chapter, i think the limit is going to be 5 squads; it's alot more character 3)driven than AW2 will be.
4)In the first chapter, only 5 men and one vehicle, but those numbers will increase 5)dramatically in later chapters.
6)There are several types of air support.
7)Grenades can be used, but your men automatically decide when to use them.
8)There are, but im switching them around still, but i'll get back to that in a later post...
9)You can only use mines on roads. C4 can be used by infantry to melee vehicles. I think im going to put in claymores, too.
10)If your men lose morale, yes. But having an officer in the squad can usually let them fight to the death.

I was going to do a pool for simplicity sake, but i also want every bullet to count when in survival situations, so each unit has it's own ammo.

Once a squad is down, you can no longer control it. If you are losing a battle, then organizing medivacs for your men will be priority.
Towns will require food, medical supplies, ammo and weapons, gas, and a bunch of other commodities. You will be able to play though AW2 by just buying and selling things if you want, so there are going to be a lot of things to make it work.

RE5... i give it 4 1/2 outta 5... Over all very nice, but there are a few things like how enemies don't really react to the terrain (animation wise), or they will run at you, then stop and stare as you slowly reload your rifle. All that was in RE4, but on current gen systems i find that just a little too annoying.

In the first chapter, there is no EXP points, but later, each person will have their own exp.

The price of guns depends on the ingame economy. Guns sell for low if ammo in the area is low, or threat of attack is low. Different areas value different guns differently too; large city's and forested towns value mp5, where as open areas value RPGs and sniper rifles.

If the squad is taking fire and you tell them to charge, they will roadie run, otherwise they will run normally.

No, but weapons can be heavily customized.

Yea, it's good, but so much potental...
The gun sounds are underwhelming, but the explosions get the job done.

If by 1911 you mean pistol... there will only be one kind in the 1rst chapter, but if I add more it will only be one gun for each caliber.

The economy will be fully dynamic. Starting wars so that you can sell your guns and ammo for more will be an option. Keeping your stuff safe from raiders will be the main concern, then.

Yeah, the 1911 .45 pistol. I think it'd be perfect as a medium pistol. Between the high cap 9mm pistols and overkill magnum sidearms. Powerful, ergonomic and reliable, but low mag cap to balance it out (maybe just make the ammo pool low?).

The first chapter will only have a 9mm (looks like a glock).

later chapters will include

.22 - ammo is light, and can be whisper quiet when suppressed. Almost no stopping power, though.

9mm - bread and butter

45 - Very good stopping power on unarmored targets, but more recoil than the 9mm

50 AE - Will drop a zombie with only one body shot, but is VERY loud and the ammo is heavy and expensive. Tons of recoil.

You will be able to combine pistols with a sword, shield, or another pistol, or just as a side arm. The mp5k will be able to be used in this way, too.

Im not sure about the elephant gun, but if it was going in, it would definatly be a raider weapon. The 50 cal magnum will look like a generic (and huge) pistol.

Right now your men just leave the wounded behind, and it only shows dragging wounded/CPR when a squad is wiped out. If i can think of a way to incorperate those into regular combat, than i will.

2) The witches are quite diverse. Although they don't suck blood, some of them are more vampire like than witch like. The xeno are like werewolves, bat-men, demons, and the like.
3) Nope. That was a nextgen prototype weapon. The final build can be bought, though. It's bigger, deadlier, and can fly.
4) Nope. My comp is still busted.

Hah, I just tried the demo and... The game is a fine "CONSOLE" rts, but not much of a contender to the pc ones, It works alright, but it feels so... Slim.

One thing that bothers me is, It goes against so much of the HALO lore, especially when it comes to the Spartans. I read up on this stuff and well, it takes place 20 years before CE, And john/Master chief only got the energy shield just before CE starts.

The Spartans always worked in squads of about 4, and they never went on solo raids, the Spartans used their brains and tactics more than actual brute force. I could go on...

Also, seriously, the wraights!? Their plasma artillery causes no explosions... And the jackals move in squads of 2... I'll stop now.

Don't get me wrong, I don't own halo 3, I borrowed it and It was an ok game but... The halo universe is awesome, but they can't seem to show it, maybe ODST will finally show me the Dark, Gritty side of halo I've always wanted to see.

Well then, and what IDIOT would call the Spartans master chief? He wasn't even there. I mean, when the fight at harvest happened, he and the other Spartans were far away, they should not even be there, remember? 20 years before halo CE, so they were still in godamned training.

And no, in that game, you can't have a "squad" of 3 Spartans, they are individual units.

I'm a huge fan of the halo lore, but I never really liked the halo games, exept CE and the "escape" warthog scenes.

At the moment, i can't even play AW1, never mind work on #2. It is my mission to get it done though. With or without support.

This game, although made in flash, has the production values of a console game. Many console games take entire teams of skilled artists and programmers years to complete, and i'm doing that without any resources or manpower.

As soon as I get access to a computer that can launch the AW2 source file, i'll be putting up some screenshots, so just hang tight.

The church have ALOT of men to equip, so most don't even have guns. When theychurch has a lot of cash, however, they can outfit with rifles and tanks. They also have the biggest medical bills from all that melee, though, so they usually don't have the money for the fancy equipment.

I'm thinking of giving medics the option of combat stims, which would allow selective healing. Otherwise, all units regenerate at the same speed; although medics, and certain perks speed up the process. I want to go more in-depth with it, but for the fist few chapters it's going to be very basic.

Not too much, and my computer is down, although i ran that checkdisk thing, and it seems to be able to startup, minus all the drivers or course. I have mostly been doing research on how to make money from the internet, and concluded that getting autumn war it's own website is the only way to go.

Progress is about to pick up, though, as i am currently downloading the drivers for my comp, and once that laptop gets here work will literally go 8x faster. It takes nearly a minute every time i publish/test the game on my best rig, at the moment. With multiple gigs of ram on a 2 ghz processor, that should go down to just a few seconds.

Orks don't have a higher cap...but their squads are big compared to other units except for the Tyranids. Space marines only come in squads of 3 without the sergeant.

Imperial Guard is only in the campaign as NPCs. They try to help you but they don't make much of a difference.

Not sure about the graphics card.

Uhh....there's no more buildings in Dawn of War 2. In skirmish you only get one HQ building and you send all your troops out from there.

And yes, I have medieval 2 Total War, and if you can run that, you should be able to run Dow 2.

and there's no COD 3 for the PC.
